Photographs of the Ocosta Tide Gate, Ocosta, WA, 4/14/1936
Description
Under the Flood Control Act of 1936 the federal government was given oversight of flood control. This legislation also designated the Army Corps of Engineers as the agency in charge of this work. During the late 1930s, the Corps began work in Washington, documenting floods and planning for flood control along Western Washington waterways. Despite a break during World War II, the Corp completed most of its initial work in Washington by the early 1950s.
